So, is Chuck really going to bring a margarita machine next year?

I'm not really sure. We were both talking about doing this and I'm not sure if it's still a "we" or a "he."

I priced some and they were around $4,000 for units that had a chilled reserve tank, so you never ran out.

I'm all for a machine, but a blender is $25, ice is $3/bag, and I enjoy playing bartender... so if the price is an issue I will gladly pretend I have a small degree of competence as a bartender and pitch-in!

If you guys do the machine-thingie, (whooo hooo!!!) let me know the amps/watts so we have the power in place necessary to drive it.

I would suggest multiple Ninja's, yes I'm a throughput whore, but not nearly the throughput you were going through last year on the playa. We need at least 2 blenders, but I would feel more comfortable and excited if we could have at least 3 machines crushing ice at the same time.

Addressing the power requirements for a minute: we really are not power-limited so much as we are fuel limited. We have 4 KW of power - plenty for a small camp like ours. Its just that I dont want to run out of gas on Thursday!

Maybe its time to start a Power Musings thread. (Ninjas would be ideal to drive off an inverter/battery system being recharged by excess power from the Hondas!)

I like this! So when the generators are spinning with a low load, they trickle charge the batteries. When the (4?) chest freezers are running simultaneously, not so much?

Let me buy the third. I need to spend more money to make more discontent in my married life. Discontent = short-term pleasure in the bed. I really like those BL800 (1,500 watt) beasts.

I like the idea of looking at our "grid" a little closer. For the most part last year we were just running the genny's 24/7 as we needed power. I'm sure we can't get away from that, but if we could install capacitors (batteries) during peak load times and then charge our capacitors back up at non-peak load times that will allow us to use even more power.

As a Theme Camp, we would be entitled to buy gasoline during the week.

I didn't realize that was for generator use (though in retrospect it makes a lot of sense) I had originally thought it was just for MV's.

Fuel has always been available to both MVs and camps, from DPW. (We had a big rental-generator in 2010, in the Kinetic Cab Company art installation.) Then they started a new program in 2014, where the fuel vendors sell directly. You just have to set up an account with the vendor beforehand.

Okay, I'm looking at the no frills Waring Commercial MX1100XTX as a contributing blender. 3.5hp, 1500watts with 30 second timer as a margarita killer

I thought about that for about 2 seconds. Like us, do you think they want to spend their time sweating over a dusty blender serving booze to others? Let's think about the Pro's and Con's:

As much as I hate plug and play camps with the herpies (hippy sherpas), I would like to hire a couple herpies to work the camp in two 4 hour shifts for the week.
