I just ordered another 1,000 wooden nickel blanks, arriving tomorrow. That makes 1,000 necklaces and 1,000 tokens.

The brand was the expensive part, but now that it's purchased feel free to procure, or steal shit we can brand. Some things I thought about were cork drink coasters, leather, cardboard, meat, flesh, etc. I'm going to bring the branding iron and the two brass branding plates to the desert, whenever they arrive. Should ship out of production on or around 2/13

Here is the latest revision. I am only going to make a couple of these and the brand isn't there yet, these are just white paper copies, but it gives an idea of what the brand will look like.

Awesome, Kowtow!!!!

Whats the plan for on-playa heat? Propane burner? (Kitchen burners?). Or has your fertile mind got a twist on this angle?

Sorry forgot to mention. I bought an electric iron (175W Hexacon) and it has a 3/8" thread that the branding plate threads onto.

BTW - stopped by the bead store and bling'd up the necklace a bit.

Now if the branding iron would just come in I could start production. I'm so impatient (shush Beams)....

The iron and brands will be arriving tomorrow. I have a few busted blanks to work with and then it's on to 2,000 wooden nickels x two sides, or 4,000 brands total. It's time to put the quality brain to work and figure out a lean six sigma operation to bust these out. Okay, it's nothing like the bacon tamale operations, but it makes me feel busy having all this work ahead of me.

Do you own a drill press?
If you do, you can clamp the brand in the chuck and point a propane torch at it.
At the bottom, have a jig that holds a coin in place.
Rotate the handle, it will lower the brand onto the blank, branding it.

Thanks. This is an electric branding iron, so thankfully no need to regulate proper temperature with a torch.

I have begun designing the drill press method. But what I would really like to do is top and bottom at once. I've mocked up a couple ideas so that when you pull the drill press down it not only brings the top brand on the the face of the coin, but also pulls up on the bottom iron at the same time branding the back side of the coin also.

Right now I only have one branding iron, so I'll keep that idea on the back burner (pun intended) until later.
