The daily gripe

Postby Sunbeam » February 6th, 2015, 6:37 pm

So, I think we should have a forum for general complaints.
'm sick (again). Strep - flu - sinus infection - throat infection.
Im so tired of being ill.
I cough every 2 1/2 to 3 minutes. And its offensive to my dear ones.
Can't help it.

Wow! Got up this morning feeling like recycled duck poop... Facing another day of - just take another step, just take another step...
GC talked me into going to the ER. Got treated, and new meds, and I think I'm going to live!

My regular doctor has gotten too successful. She doesn't see patients on weekends. Pretty soon she won't see sick patients at all, only healthy patients. Banks are that way = they only give loans to people who don't need them.
So the ER doc was a fresh breath of air. AND the ER doc has a sister who is a lawyer, and totally grokked the - I gotta be healthy by Monday - requirement.

The meds are fighting. I'm willing. But the steroids want me to charge, do, raise, strive...
The cough suppresants want me to chill, relax, take a nice snooze.
I'd love to go to sleep - no pain.
But at the moment, not possible.

Feeling lots better. Still coughing like a smoker (I'm not).
With assistance, produced 30 dozen tamales today. :)
I'm happy about that.

This cough has GOT to go away.
I can't talk to a jury if they think I am making them sick...

When I'm struck by a bout of flu (Grippe in French) (made you learn something lol)

I make a blend of:

Honey (Manuka if I can find it) - anti fungal
Lemon juice - astringent, decongestant and anti viral
Ginger Root - anti inflammatory
Garlic cloves - anti bacterial
Thai chilies - cuz..damn..nothing is surviving that.

Toss it into the bullet until it's a thick paste.

Take 1 teaspoon daily with an orange juice chaser (or a slice of orange which is better)

Kills many of those gross bug germs flat.

Worst case scenario....It makes for a killer rub on chicken and ribs :-P

Get well soon Sunbeam!

Tried and lost a car wreck case with a steadily worsening cough. Went to the Dr. today. Gnarly xrays of my lungs. bronchitis, and pneumonia.
At least I'm finally on an effective anti=cough med.
And the inhaler lets me breath pretty well.
:(

I'm very ill.
But there's always something worse. Debbie Jean, my secretary, had a stroke 2 weeks ago. She has a very aggressive brain cancer.

Wow that is shitty news all around, Beams.

Sending good energy for swift recovery, pneumonia is no laughing matter, add bronchitis...danger town.

So sorry to hear about Debbie Jean's condition. Employee or not, I'm guessing she may be closer akin to friend or family in the work that you do. Confidants are precious. I send Debbie Jean good energy too.

I'm a bit pissed off. I think you've given me the Danbury crud. I had rather liquid... ah never mind. I've now got a sore throat, headache and I have that ominous sense that I'm coming down with Revelations 16.

It's the first time I can remember that my hands have started sweating for no reason. Starting to feel a pressure in my head, but no really shitty symptoms yet. It's just that feeling like... "Get ready buddy I'm gonna slam you down soon!"

Grey had a rather long discussion with the pharmacist yesterday - my antibiotic was misprescribed. So they called around, spent a couple of hours getting it sorted out, and had time to chat.
She says she has been a pharmacist for 18 years and this is the worst flu season she has seen.
Lots of doctors aren't taking it seriously enough.
Look at me = started with a fever, ended up with bronchitis AND pneumonia.

As soon as you are starting to blow your nose = go get tested for flu (they didn't test me).
GetTamiflu (I wasn't prescribed for me).
And STAY HOME (I didn't).

I'm feeling some pretty ugly resentment towards my doc today. She's getting too successful. No longer takes emergency calls. No longer has weekend hours. Pretty soon won't take sick people at all.
I've had the same doc for over 20 years. She's co-located with a surgery center - handy.
I'm generally pretty healthy, patient, no bad habits (that she knows about). Just getting older gracefully. See her twice a year to update meds.

Now I'm sick. She doesn't have time. So I get "worked in" with her young associate. Who is a nice lady but DOESN"T TRUST PATIENTS.
The first time I say Dr. Antonio Way, I has spent the morning in court - I shouldn't have, but my client needed representation.
I told her that I had been experiencing high fevers, but the fever comes and goes. It had just broken. I was covered with sweaty - stinky sweat, the kind you get with a fever - and she DIDN"T BELLIEVE ME.
She presecribed penicillin, which was less powerful than the amoxicillin I had been on. And a pretty useless cough medicine that made me dizzy.
Ok - try it, be patient <--- my response.
Came back a week later, worked in with Dr. Way again. Getting worse. Probable sinus infection (green boogers).
Prescribed z-pack. Zpack helps with sinuses, cough getting worse.
Came back a week later. Now, because of all the antibiotics, I'm immune compromised. I have thrush (a skin infection, fungal or yeast on the throat). Told to drink lots of water and given a medicated gargle.
Cough still getting worse.
Go to the ER - told I probably HAD the flu, but its too late for Tamiflu.
Given a third cough medicine, shot of Dex. Dex makes me feel good - but doesn't address the cough.
I GO TO TRIAL (thinking I'm getting better). To suppress the cough, now taking boatloads of over the counter cough suppressants.
Coughing gets progressively worse.
Next day after verdict. I go back to my doc. Pitch a bloody fit - cough all over her office - make a racket. She works me in.
Clear that she's being nice, but peeved. Apologize. Go over all the meds and the whole time line.
She agrees that I have too many different cough meds. Doesn't give me a cough med. Now I'm out of the one that works. So I;m left with the ones that DON"T WORK.
Prescribes an xray. Of course I demand to see the xray. bronchitis clearly there, and a large area of water logged lung on the lower right side - pneumonia. Also a line of something on the left that is parallel to my back. Don't know what that is -possibly old scarring? (Although I have never to my knowledge been closer to a fire than a bbq, or campfire).
So I go back up, she won't do anything until she sees the official report. Too busy with healthy people to get the report.
By phone she prescribes an antibiotic - and gets it WRONG.
Takes Grey and the Pharm (who really went over the top to help) two hours to sort out.

Now I'm home. Resting. Have been unable to work in nearly 45 days. GRRRRRRR

I'm starting to have a productive cough. I need to wait for it to develop a little so there is something for my doctor to hear (probably tomorrow) then I'll call and make an appointment. Should get in the same day since it's Friday.

Hopefully I'll shake this in less than 14 days. I need to get on a plane!

Ditto! I can't have this "thing" for 60 days, 30 days, 20 days, I'm giving it until next Thursday to be expunged. And if it's not... well... I haven't thought it through that far yet.
