Re: The Land Yacht

I just realized the Land Yacht is the perfect platform to watch the man burn. Saturday is also my birthday! Can I reserve a seat in the Yacht for the burn?

Re: Handheld for the playa

I was the best "Rabbit Hunter" in this area back in the day. I had a 2 foot firestik on the back of my Z28 which made it highly directional towards the front of the car. Spin a few circles in the parking lot when the "rabbit" would first key up and I had a direction. I always fou...

Re: Handheld for the playa

Looking over your freq list I have a question or two or more. Some dumb, some not as dumb... Are the channel selections you have (0,1,2,3,4,etc), in an order based on personal preference or is there a 'loose' standard for assigning channels to freqs? For example does most everyone set channe...

Re: Handheld for the playa

This is the .csv file you can import to your little Baofengs. Check them out and add any you want and repost. It will be good if we all have the same channels in our radios.

Re: Handheld for the playa

I'll post up a .csv file y'all can import into your Baofengs. It has all the MURS, FRS, GMRS, and the local amateur repeaters in it. We can set up and program the cross band repeater freq's when we get there. I'll bring my little Surface Pro to help get er dun. On a side note, I'm really looking for...

Re: Anyone else?

I will volunteer at Beams magical tamale factory though. Serving tamales to dusty burners while drinking scotch sounds like it might be fun.

Re: Handheld for the playa

I'd get a spare battery since they're pretty cheap.

I did most of my talking on 146.520 while I was out there. There wasn't much else going on. I'll post all the freq's I have programmed into my radio when I get a chance.

Re: Handheld for the playa

EG, I bet you could pass the tech exam pretty easily. If you even have just a little background in 2 way radios, you could pass the test.

Re: Handheld for the playa

Not exactly, a cross band repeater would use 2 meters and re-transmit anything on that band over to the 70cm band for example. The HT's would all be on 70cm and we could set up 2 Cross band repeaters in 2 different places to receive the transmissions from the HT's and re-transmit those signals on 2 ...
