Re: JT65 and JT9 modes

Thats 420 QSO's logged in JT65/JT9 and counting. Schweet!

Re: JT65 and JT9 modes

Lol! Its a odd digital mode. Very similar to how Earth talks to space probes way beyond Pluto. Its slow as hell, but it can span lots of miles with very little power. :)

I just spoke with a guy who made 9000 miles with 5 watts. Just incredible!!!

Re: JT65 and JT9 modes

Ya gotta try it, Chuck. A little effort to get setup and sorted, but once there its a lot of fun. In the last 48 hours I've nabbed Australia, France, Costa Rica, Columbia, Ecudor, Brazil, Switzerland, a dozen Canadians (all provinces), and **CUBA*** (yup!). Never more than 60 watts ERP. 10 watts let...

JT65 and JT9 modes

Anybody in the group playing with the JT modes on HF? I'm making some big mischief on 20 meters lately but I'm looking for someone to QSO with while I see "how low we can go" and still make the trip. Chuck? Titty? Anyone up for a sked?

This pretty well says it all, and I'm in the same boat. (Ohhh. I made a pun.'hehehe)

Re: Getting prepared for BM 2016, one item a day

"...Duuuude! You totally MOOPed on my desk, man!!!..." Just wait until you start brewing on the large scale. Chuck will come in some morning to check on the progress of a stout and it will come out like syrup. No note, but there will be a suspiciously empty 50 lb bag of corn starch tacked ...

Re: Handheld for the playa

EG: amateur repeater pair splits are always 600 khz on 2 meters and 6 mhz on 440. Depending on the "+" or "-" prefix, you need to add or subtract 600 khz (or 6 mhz for 440) from the RX freq to get the freq you actually need to xmit on in order to be heard by the repeater. That &q...

Re: Getting prepared for BM 2016, one item a day

Chuck zinged me good. I left him my impact last year since they were staying a bit longer. When Chuck shipped it back, he carefully wrapped and boxed it up. It arrived unannounced, so I eagerly opened at my desk at work. The impact had been packed with about a quart of sawdust. Boom! It went e...

Lost: yuppers! I'm bringing two actually. If you will bring a 1/2 inch drive DEEP impact socket (Lowes tool section, about 4 bucks) to match your lags, its yours to borrow for the asking.

Re: Getting prepared for BM 2016, one item a day

Yup. Insulation is absolutely key. Each window forward of the center bulkhead has a 3/4 inch R-panel cut to fit the window that is backed-up by another sheet of 3/4 inch R-panel over it and the wall. The floor is 3/4 inch R-panel again, topped with luan. The interior of the ceiling is 3/4 inch R-pan...

Re: How to Break In A Honda EU2000i

That 30kw is nice. But vastly overpriced! Knock 10'grand off that number and I'd be drooling. We have two 20kw Perkins-powered diesel sets with 100 gal tanks and the Mecce-Alt heads. Nice units. Basically the little brother of the one Chuck lusts for. Whole house units. 7 days of zero-compromise pow...

Re: How to Break In A Honda EU2000i

An update: getting ready for the yearly Burn and the hour meter shows we just rolled over the 1000 hour mark. The engine starts on the first or second pull every time, and other than lots of fading and road-rash on the plastic case, it shows no signs of its adventures. This will be its third year on...
